Chris Shank enters his first season as a member of the Defiance College football staff for the 2019 season.
Shank comes to Defiance College from Muskingum University where he served as the offensive line coach for the Fighting Muskies. During the 2018 season, Shank helped the Muskies improve to 4-6 on the year, marking the highest win total for the program since 2011. Coach Shank also served as Interim Head Coach during the Program’s transition in the Spring of 2017.
Before his time at Muskingum, Shank spent seven years at the University of the South, serving as the Offensive Line Coach, Strength and Conditioning Coordinator and Co-Offensive Coordinator in 2016. While with the Tigers, Shank coached Ten All-Conference Players and One All-American. Prior to Sewanee, Coach Shank was the Assistant Offensive Line Coach and Tight Ends Coach at Lehigh University where the Mountain Hawks won the 2006 Patriot League Championship.
Shank played his collegiate football at Muskingum, earning All-OAC honors his senior year. After graduating from Muskingum with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, Shank moved on to Heidelberg where he earned a Master’s Degree in Education while serving as a graduate assistant on the football staff.
